Looks can be deceiving. Case in point, the Halloween zip face. It’s a total show stealer, yet it’s waaaay easier to create than you might think. All you need is a zip from a haberdashery store and face glue. Cut the zip to size, open from a third of the way down and glue on so it opens up level with your eyes and bridge of your nose. Fill in your face in the open section with red lipstick to make it look gruesome. Mix together three different textures and colours and apply with a stippled face brush for a textured finish.

Or, for a prettier celestial look, opt for glitter instead. Try BARRY M Rush Body Glitter, £4.59.

Sometimes Halloween is about looking glam as well as ghoulish. So if you want to look cute rather than creepy, this look has your name written all over it. Best of all, it’s super speedy too. Simply draw on a few under-eye veins using ESTEE LAUDER Double Wear Lip Liner in Mauve, £18.60 after creating your usual smokey eye.

Pair with NARS Power Matte Lip Pigment in Paint it Black, £19.55, to create a subtly spooky demon look in five-minutes flat.

IT will forever go down as one of the scariest films ever made. So, if you’re into terrifying your mates, then this look is the one for you! Start by covering your face with ILLAMSQUA Skin Base 01, £24.75, using a beauty blender for quick and even coverage. Next, create a black smokey eye and finish with lashings of mascara.

To nail the scary clown effect, take a matte red lipstick, such as STILA Stay All Day, £16, and draw two winding lines from the lips, taking it up the cheeks and all the way to the eyebrows.

Trace the outline with BAREMINERALS Lip Liner in Wired, £14, fill in your lips and finish with a spritz of SMASHBOX Photo Finish Primer Water, £22.

For the hardcore creatives, this Day of the Dead inspired look will show off your artistic flair. Create a white base and team it with a hollowed out black eye, black nose and black teeth. Now you’re free to create any type of coloured pattern you desire such as flowers, swirls, cobwebs or stars.

Pressed for time? Print off a patterned stencil and simply dab face paint over the top to create the same effect in half the time. Try SNAZAROO Face Paint, £14.75.

Thanks to the brilliance that was Black Panther, we’ll hedge our bets and say a fair few of you will want to pay homage to the flick of the year. So why not go all out as a living, breathing Wakandan? This vibe is easy-peasy. Start with a bold smokey eye using MARC JACOBS Highliner in Grapevine, £20, and be sure to accentuate the lower lash line.

Follow with a deep berry red lip using MAC Cosmetics Studded Kiss, £17.50. Finally, line up small white dots along the eyes and forehead before placing a white stripe on the bottom lip. Perfect for those who aren’t into blood and gore.
