Ramla Ali joins Pantene's power squad
Somali boxer Ramla Ali is part of Pantene's newest campaign, which sees women sharing how their hair has contributed to their journeys.
Haircare giant Pantene has introduced a Pantene Power Squad, which includes champion boxer Ramla Ali, joined by television personality and philanthropist Katie Piper and transgender campaigner and P&G's first UK transgender haircare ambassador Paris Lees.
All three women have unique stories for how hair has played a pivotal role in their personal evolution. On Instagram, Ramla wrote, 'Having spent most of my life desperately wanting to have straight hair and look like what I saw on TV. I’m now proud to be different and have big black Afro hair. The Pantene Gold Series is specifically designed by and for women who have hair like mine. Its a privilege to be an Ambassador for Pantene and to be part of this amazing campaign.'
Somalia's first boxing gold medalist, Ramla is the current African Zone Featherweight Champion. Her accolades have earned her sponsorships from the biggest brands in sports, including becoming an exclusive global athlete for Nike.
Having had a whirlwind of a year in 2019 after being featured on the cover of British Vogue and becoming an ambassador for Pantene, Ramla is set for even more recognition as a film is due to be made about her journey from war refugee to champion boxer. We can't wait for this one!
