Jamelia set to host The Cantu Curl Awards 2021

The 'Superstar' singer says she's 'honoured and excited' to present the awards during the grand finale this November.

As if the prospect Cantu Curl Awards weren't exciting enough already, the brand has just announced that it has secured Jamelia to present this year's final. The multi-talented songstress is well-loved and respected within the Cantu community, and is well known for being part of the natural hair movement, having release 'The Natural Hair Journal' in 2020.

Following a career as a UK hit-maker, Jamelia has gone on to carve out a successful path as a TV presenter and host, fronting thought-provoking documentaries exploring subjects related to hair, beauty, and motherhood to name a few.

With Jamelia's appointment, alongside Cantu's commitment to recognising hidden talent in the hair industry, this year’s Cantu Curl Awards will be bigger and better than ever. The event, held annually by the leading textured haircare brand, is designed as a space to celebrate the creative talent of hair lovers and hairstylists throughout the UK and Ireland.

Unlike other industry awards, the Cantu Curl Awards isn’t limited to professional stylists, but instead welcomes mobile hairstylists, hair enthusiasts who want to get more experience, and those who simply have a passion for styling textured hair, love to create content and engage with a wider audience.

Last year saw London-based, NHS worker and self-taught textured hair stylist Nicole Gyamfua Yalley, crowned 2020 Cantu Curl Awards winner during an incredible online event joined by special guests including comedienne Judi Love, media personality Amber Rose Gill and celebrity hairstylist Dionne Smith.

This year’s grand prize includes a cash payment of £5,000 to the winner and £2,500 for two runner ups. Additionally, Cantu Curl Award winners will receive a 12-month paid Cantu Ambassador and Content Creator Partnership and a magazine cover shoot.

Commenting on her appointment as the host of the Cantu Curl Awards, Jamelia says, “I’m so honoured and excited to be hosting the Cantu Curl Awards. I really enjoy working with Cantu having hosted the launch of the Skin Therapy range earlier this year. As someone who loves their natural hair, and as a mother of three girls with gorgeous natural hair, I’m always happy to be involved in ways in which we can celebrate the beauty and uniqueness of our crowning glory. I can’t wait to see the stylists bring the heat - it’s going to be a fantastic competition.”

As the competition continues through the various stages, as we head towards the grand finale which is scheduled to take place on 25th November, you can follow all the excitement of the challenges and get to know the finalists by following the Cantu Curl Awards journey at @CantuBeautyUK #CantuCurlAwardsUK on Instagram.
