Braided hair is one of history's most long-standing styles - and it continues to remain at the forefront of fashion. Every season sees the braiding rule book get torn up and rewritten. The latest instalment? Welcome puffy ends – aka blunt braids – to replace the hot water sealing method.
Celebrity stylist Lorraine Dublin is a big fan of the look: ‘It’s so dynamic that you can dial it up or tone it right down,’ she says.
So, how can you re-create this finish? ‘It involves tying the end of a braid with an elastic band or wrapping hair around to create a knot and cutting it straight across,’ says award-winning braid stylist Michelle Garande from Afrotherapy Salon. ‘It’s best to use synthetic hair because, not only is it cheaper, once the hair is cut it will naturally take on a thick blunt shape.’
