Haircuts4Homeless collaboration with Gina Conway for Women Refuge

The collaboration targets women who have been victims of domestic violence and abuse, providing a little luxury in their time of need.

Haircuts4Homeless, the community group where skilled hairdressers give their time free-of-charge to give haircuts for homeless people in the UK, recently collaborated with Gina Conway at Tower Hamlets for Women Refuge.

This refuge was Haircuts4Homeless' 58th project opening (😮) and November 24th marks Haircuts4Homeless' 5th Anniversary.

Gina Conway, whose salons are located across London, started a remarkable new initiative for women who have suffered domestic violence. She says: “I was glad that I could help by giving the gift of beauty. I see so many big smiles on their faces and we laughed a lot! Some of the girls were really thrilled to feel like they were the most important person in the world even if only for a few hours.”

Stewart, founder of Haircuts4Homeless, says: “This is something that is really personal to me and I feel really privileged to be part of it. Gina and her team were a perfect fit as her wonderful central London salons are built on customer delight and making people’s day. The place was full of laughter and tears of joy."

Why haircuts?

Homeless people have many challenges to face, one of them often being low self-esteem. A haircut can have a great effect on someone, giving them a real boost. The luxury of a haircut is rarely affordable for them, nor on their list of priorities, so the free service provides them with a little confidence lift and a moment to feel like they're being taken care of.

It may be “just a haircut”, but it’s the kindness shown that makes homeless people know that there are organisations out there who care. Please help the continuation of Haircuts4Homeless and donate at
