The weird and wacky beauty trends of 2018 we’ll be bidding farewell to:
From Huda Katan’s wild tiger brows to some just plain weird fishtail versions, an onslaught of audacious arch trends tried (and failed) to go mainstream this year. The worst offenders? Well, the side parted brow has to be up there. Usually we'd champion an eyebrow moment and a centre parting whenever we can, but together? No thanks. Then we had coat hanger brows, courtesy of @skyzeditz. We'll give them a 10 out of 10 for ingenuity but zero for coolness.
Glitter eyeshadow? Love it! Glitter lips? Hell yeah! But full-on duo chrome glitter faces? No thanks. Sure, it worked for the Giambattista Valli runway, but not so much for the office. And who could forget the ‘glitter boobs and butt’ trend? Unless you’re prepared to find glitter in unexpected places for months on end, this is a trend that is best reserved for festivals only - and even that's pushing it.
The nineties cult classic hair accessory made a comeback this year thanks to Alexander Wang. Finished in chrome and covered in a designer logo, this throw-back certainly got a makeover. But did it make the claw clip cool? No. Just no.
The smudged lip
Considering that this look didn’t even work on runway goddess-like models, then what hope is there for us mere mortals?!
Corkscrew nails would be cool if they could by used to open wine bottles. But they can’t even do that, so the point of this trend is, well, we’re not entirely sure either. Then there were teeth nails, which are only acceptable at Halloween people! And as for the comb nails, neither pretty or practical.
