Fashion & Beauty Junkies *Must* Check Out This Exhibition!
The V&A launches a brief history of underwear and it’s super sassy!
If you love spending time wandering around cool exhibitions then listen up! The V&A has unveiled its latest major fashion exhibition for 2016 and it’s rather racy!
Called ‘Undressed: A Brief History of Underwear’, it's co-sponsored by Revlon and Agent Provocateur and tells the story of underwear design from the 18th century through to the present day.
It explores the relationship between underwear and fashion and notions of the ideal body, tracing the developments of our small clothes and how they have impacted what we wear and how we live. It also includes a section on ‘Temptation’ which peels off the layers of seductive styles using mannequins adorned with lips and tips painted in the iconic Revlon Red shade.
Aside from being able to check out some the coolest corsets and loveliest lingerie, the exhibition also has an empowering message about body confidence. Curator Edwina Ehrman explains, “The Revlon Red lips and tips are a striking addition to the display. Underwear can enable the wearer to express their desires and fantasies. For many people, this is intimately connected a sense of confidence often created from perfectly painted makeup.”
The perfect follow up the Alexander McQueen exhibition, this intimate show is a revealing must visit!
