The awards are designed to raise the profiles of WOC in the industry, following a lack of acknowledgement by mainstream businesses.

E.A.T.O.W. Awards: raising the profiles, encouraging, embracing and motivating women of colour in the makeup industry. Freemantle developed the awards as mainstream businesses were still not acknowledging the work of black women in the makeup industry.

I realised those starting out in their careers as MUAs needed additional help to find their way need to be celebrated too. With our growing E.A.T.O.W. platform, the wealth of knowledge and education we continue to gather is huge and will become vital to the business success of those in this field. We want to celebrate MUA's on how they adapt to changes in the industry, run their businesses as well as their creative talent. - Eryca Freemantle

The makeup artist awards are different to any other out there. Eryca continues, "It will be online for the most part, assignment based (just like doing an assessment at university or for a job). There will be multiple choice questions and answers, which creates a level playing field for all who become members of this unique community.  The finals will be held at Errol Douglas Hair Studio in Knightsbridge London and streamed to two million viewers across Africa."
