Are you a product junkie?
If you're a self-confessed product junkie, just follow our five easy steps to get you back on the road to recovery!
We all love bingeing on natural hair tutorials and following our favourite beauty gurus. Sure, there’s no denying that it’s super-easy to become a product junkie in today’s digital age. But it certainly isn’t all fun and games when your bank account goes in the red or you have zero shelf space because it’s filled to the brim with curling soufflés. So, how do you kick the product junkie habit? As with many things in life, it’s vital to know when to splurge and when to save. So fear not: we’ve outlined five easy steps to get you on the road to beauty junkie recovery. You know your bank balance (and your bathroom cabinet) will thank you for it!
1. Stick and don’t twist
Once you find a product or range that works for you, simply stick with it. It takes up to three months to see true results, and as the saying goes, ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’.
2. Don’t believe the hype
New releases and rave reviews can make it tempting to rush out and buy. But the truth is, everyone is different and what works for one person doesn’t necessarily work for all. Some influencers are paid to promote brands too, so keep that in mind next time you’re standing in the beauty aisle ready to spend.
3. Try before you buy
Make samples, testers and travel size products your best friend. There’s nothing worse than spending your hard-earned money on products that don’t agree with your hair or skin.
4. Take it month by month
Monthly subscription boxes are a clever way of getting your product fix. The idea is that a different range of haircare and make-up goodies are sent to your door for a set price every month. The plus point is you receive full-sized products without paying the full retail price. See some of our favourite boxes on the right.
To change a habit, avoid employing too many steps as this can make it difficult to stay on the road to recovery. Repeat steps one to four and if you do slip up, don’t fret. There are definitely worse things to be addicted to than beauty products, right?
