5 things we spotted at Afro Hair and Beauty Live
The crowds were out in force - and here's the hair trends we loved!
Now in its 36th year, Afro Hair and Beauty is the place year after year to go to get IRL hair and beauty inspiration, and this year was no different. A total array of looks were on show at the Business Design Centre in Islington, London, this Bank Holiday weekend and we're not just talking about on stage. The crowd was like a Pinterest board of hair inspo – big hair, colour, curls - you name it. Want to know our faves? These are the looked we loved..
1. Longer, slicker, sexier
Think Nicki Minaj's current go-to hair, teamed with a deep middle-parting. But be warned, this style is just as high maintenance as it looks, so ensure you've got a detangling brush on hand at all times! We salute the ladies of AHBL who looked every bit the diva with this super smooth style.
2. Curls in every shape and size
3a, 4b, 4c… every type of curl was on show! We spotted wraps and puffs, with most ladies (and the odd gent) opting for a twist out or a wash-and-go style!
3. Wigs galore!
An array of amazing wigs were worn and sold at Afro Hair and Beauty Live this year. There was a lot of buzz around the the Wig Boutique by Outre where custom made wigs were created on the spot for a special show prices. Considering the scattered showers across the weekend a wig was a perfect stress-free hairstyling option. Check out Spell Beauty's amazing range of Outre wigs to see what you missed out on...
4. Colour boom
We saw pink, green ombre, a unicorn ’fro of pink and purple, accented dreds… the list goes on. The slither of sunshine we’ve been enjoying has definitely brought out the fun hair by the bucket load.
5. All the braids
The revival of ’90s style box braids and a cornucopia of other plaits and twists are still going strong and we saw a variety of lengths, colour and textures across the weekend. Some ladies even experimented with hair jewellery to add even more texture to their look. We definitely have enough inspiration to last us ’til next year’s show! @AfroHairShow
